An under 18s rugby player has been released from hospital after a suspected serious injury.

A Scottish Charity Air Ambulance helicopter was called to Forfar's Inchmacoble Park after the incident on Saturday.

Strathmore Rugby Club says Dunfermline teenager Andrew spent the night receiving treatment after being transported by ambulance.

His mum is thanking staff for helping her son recover - he left hospital with some swelling and bruising.

A post on the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance X account said: “SCAA airlifted a doctor-led team to a rugby accident in Forfar at the weekend.

“Our helicopter landed at Strathmore Rugby Club allowing quick access to the injured player who was treated and then taken to hospital in Dundee.”

A spokesperson from Strathmore Rugby Club said: “Some good news after the visit of the Scottish Air Ambulance yesterday to THL Inchmacoble to attend a suspected serious injury to a young Dunfermline player, near the end of our u18 fixture.

“Andrew spent the night in hospital undergoing checks and was released this morning with just some swelling and bruising.

“His mum would like to pass on her thanks for all the care he received from everyone at Strathmore and Angus Physiotherapy.

“Our coaches have also passed on our best wishes to Andrew for a full and swift recovery.

“A huge thanks must go to the emergency services that responded in a swift, slick and professional manner.”
