Jason White has been sentenced to four years in prison after robbing an seriously assaulting an elderly woman in Dundee last year.

She was treated for serious head and facial injuries at Ninewells Hospital following the incident.

Following an investigation, Jason White was arrested on Tuesday, 30th May, 2023.

He pled guilty to assault to severe injury and danger of life, and robbery at an earlier hearing and returned to Dundee Sheriff Court for sentencing on Tuesday, 16th April, 2024.

Detective Constable Shaunni Morris said: “This was a cowardly and cruel robbery where White chose to target an elderly woman as she was trying to cross the road.

“Our thoughts remain with her and I hope this sentence offers reassurance and she is able to take some comfort from his sentencing and move on from this distressing ordeal.

“White’s sentencing should send a clear message to the public that we will pursue those who think they are entitled to steal from others. We are committed to keeping our streets and communities safe and will use all resources at our disposal to do this.”
