Perth cat diagnosed with asthma takes Instagram by storm
Owner Kelly Boyle shares how Rascal deals with the condition on a daily basis
A cat in Tayside has gained a big online following after his owner revealed he has asthma.
Kelly Boyle, 35, from Perth shows her followers how Rascal lives with the condition - which includes taking an inhaler THREE times a day.
It's thought 5% of felines worldwide are affected.
Rascal was diagnosed back in 2018 when Kelly noticed he was coughing on a regular basis.
£25,000 spent keeping him healthy
His vet bills have been around £25,000 for treating him from X-rays, blood tests, swabs and medication and vet consultations.
He is currently being treated at Fair city Vets in Perth.
Spring/summer are the most challenging times for Rascal as the allergens are high and he requires more help from the vets usually steroid tablets or injections.
Kelly has said "we are telling our story to raise awareness of an illness in cats that we were completely unaware off, from what we thought was a completely innocent hairball to a life changing diagnosis for Rascal, we hope by sharing our story it will encourage others to reach out whom pets may also be asthmatic.
"Even though your cat has a medical condition, they can still be a cat and have fun. It's not the end of the road".
Rascal full of life, despite condition
She added "He's very active. He loves to go out and explore, and is enjoying the lighter nights. He is having a great time!".
Kelly also admitted Rascal may not be here if he wasn't taken to the vets and diagnosed.
