Perth Academy fire wilful, say police

Emergency crews were called to Murray Place this afternoon

Police say a fire at Perth Academy was wilful.

The alarm was raised after reports of the blaze on the ground floor around 2.20pm today.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent two appliances to Murray Place and worked to make the area safe.

No one was injured and officers say enquiries are ongoing.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.08pm on Wednesday, 4 December, to reports of a fire affecting the ground floor of a school building on Murray Place, Perth.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene where crews worked to make the area safe.

“There were no reported casualties.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a fire at a premises on Murray Place, Perth, around 2.20pm on Wednesday, 4 December, 2024.

“There were no reports of any injuries.

“The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
