'Much-loved husband and father' named as man who died at Arbroath supermarket

Alun Harris-Richards has been named as the man who died in the Asda at the Westway Retail Park in Arbroath on Sunday, 30th June.

At around 7:25pm officers were called to a report of an unresponsive man at the premises.

Emergency services attended and the 61-year-old from the Arbroath area was pronounced dead at the scene.

A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

'Much-loved husband, father and bampy'

His family have asked for privacy and have released a statement through Police Scotland. They said: “Alun was a much-loved husband, father, and bampy and will be missed by all his family and everyone who knew him.

“Thank you to the emergency services and all those who assisted. We would like to ask for privacy at what is a very difficult time as we come to terms with our sudden loss.”

37-year-old woman charged

Natasha Smith, from Arbroath, appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court in connection with the incident.

The 37-year-old was charged with culpable homicide, theft by shoplifting and two counts of assaulting, threatening or abusing retail staff.

She made no plea and was remanded in custody. She is due to appear in court again within the next eight days.
