Man found guilty of serious sexual offences in the Tayside area

Christian Schonenberger was found guilty of serious sexual offences and violence at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday, 9th September.

Between September 2022 and January 2023, the 22-year-old, repeatedly sexually abused a woman in the Tayside area.

The woman has been left with 'lifelong injuries.'

He was found guilty following a week long trial.

Detective Constable Daniel Cogan, Police Scotland, said: “Schonenberger is a violent and abusive individual who’s abuse left the woman with lifelong injuries.

“He has now been made to face the consequences of his despicable actions and I sincerely hope that his conviction will provide the woman with some form of justice.

“Police Scotland thoroughly investigates all reports of sexual crimes and, with the assistance of our partners, will support those who come forward throughout the process

“I’d encourage anyone who has been the victim of domestic abuse and or a sexual crime, regardless of when it happened, to report it to us in the confidence we will do all we can to bring the person responsible to justice.”
