22-year-old man arrested following Arbroath fire

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fire at a derelict property on Arbroath's Keptie Street.

Emergency services were alerted at around 12:50am on Wednesday, 10th April, 2024.

Two fire appliances were sent to the scene where firefighters extinguished the fire.

There were no casualties and Police say enquiries are ongoing.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 00.50am on Wednesday, 10 April to reports of a fire within a derelict building in Arbroath.

"Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the town's Keptie Street, where firefighters extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.

"There were no casualties."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.15am on Wednesday, 10 April, 2024, we were called to a report of a fire at a premises on Keptie Street, Arbroath.

"Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

"A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing."
