Investigation after Dundee University building vandalised

A police investigation is underway after Dundee University's Tower Building was vandalised.

IT equipment was damaged and graffiti was sprayed onto the walls yesterday around 5:30pm.

The Lecture Theatre is out of use and there are temporary restrictions to access to the building outside of office hours.

A University of Dundee spokesperson said: “A small group entered the Tower Building, off Nethergate, at around 1730hrs on Monday 4th December and it was discovered later in the evening that they had vandalised a Lecture Theatre, damaging IT equipment and putting graffiti on the walls.

“The police have been informed.

“The Lecture Theatre is out of use while the damage is repaired, and we are making temporary restrictions to access to the building outwith core business hours.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.30am on Tuesday, 5 December, 2023, we received a report of damage at a premises on Smalls Wynd, Dundee.

“Enquiries are at an early stage.”
