A blaze in a block of flats in Glenrothes has been extinguished.

Fire crews were called to Abbotsford Drive around 11.26am today.

Seven appliances were sent to the scene where emergency teams discovered the blaze on the third floor.

There have been no reported casualties

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 11.26am on Thursday, 31 October to reports of a flat fire in Glenrothes.

"Operations Control mobilised seven fire appliances to the town's Abbotsford Drive, where firefighters were met by a fire within a third-floor dwelling.

"Firefighters have extinguished the fire and one appliance remains in place with crews working to ensure the area is made safe.

"There were no casualties."
