A man who raped and tormented a woman in Fife and Perthshire has been jailed for nine years.

Jonathan Rhind's two years of abuse included controlling his victim's social life and hitting her with a drill.

He had earlier been convicted after a trial in Edinburgh of raping the woman as well as a charge of engaging in a course of abusive behaviour towards her between February 2020 and January 2022.

Prosecutors stated how Rhind was aggressive towards the woman, would mock her and make vulgar comments.

He would hound her and control who she could see, demand passwords for her social media as well as keep hold of her phone.

He ordered her to clean his house and told her to sleep on the floor and even got her to lick flour up from the ground.

Rhind, from Fife, also struck his victim on the head with a drill.

The indictment stated Rhind drove his own car at speed as he followed the woman in her car.

She had to take evasive action to avoid a crash as he then swerved back and forth across the road in front of her.

Rhind went on to rape the woman which included her being restrained and bitten.

The 29-year-old was today sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.

Judge Lady Ross told Rhind that he will be supervised for a further three years on his release.

He has also been banned from approaching or contacting the woman.
