Eurovision is set to unite the Ukrainian community living in Perthshire.

Those who've been forced to flee the war-torn country are invited to gather at McDiarmid Park where the song contest will be broadcast.

Perth and Kinross councillor Steven Carr organised the event.

Ukraine won the showpiece last year, which would traditionally see them host the next one, but because of Russia's invasion it is not feasible.

Cllr Carr has said Ukrainians are mad for Eurovision and so wants to try and make them feel right at home.

The screening of the show will be located at McDiarmid Park, Muirton Suite, with tickets costing £5 per adult and £2 per child.

Carr adds "I can remember many years ago walking past a pub in the centre of Dnipro which was absolutely packed with loads of noise.

" I was thinking to myself there must be a cup final or something on in there and so I was astonished to find out it was because of the Eurovision event. It is a very big thing".

The party is open to all, and not just Ukrainians in the area, Cllr Carr went on to say.

"What will do is invite host families, charities helping Ukrainians and possibly even teachers at the school where there is Ukrainian children.

"It's amazing the amount of times people come together and make new friends, and start creating their own community".
