Dundee City council says it is monitoring a number of illnesses at Blackness Primary School.

Children and staff have been coming down with a stomach bug.

NHS Tayside has been issuing guidance to parents and carers.

It has also been in contact with the school.

A spokesperson for NHS Tayside said, “Our health protection team has been made aware of a number of children who attend a primary school in Dundee who are experiencing symptoms of gastroenteritis, such as vomiting or diarrhoea.

“The team has been in contact with the school and Dundee City Council and has issued guidance for parents.

“Gastroenteritis can spread quickly and easily among groups of children. For most children, symptoms are short-lived, and they recover quickly.

“To help stop the spread of infection, any child with gastroenteritis should not attend nursery, school, or other group setting until they are free of symptoms for 48 hours.

“This is because even when a child appears to have recovered, they may still be infectious to others until they have had 48 hours without symptoms.”

A Dundee City Council spokesperson said: "A primary school has issued guidance to families following reported sickness among pupils and staff.

"The council and the school will continue to monitor the situation."
