A seven inch burst water main on Dens Road is affecting 46 properties in the Stobsmir area of Dundee.

Bottled water is being delivered to the impacted properties.

Scottish Water say an overland pipe will be installed this afternoon to restore water supply to the properties while a repair is carried out.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: "We are dealing with a 7” burst water main at Dens Road, Dundee. A road closure is now in place and are engineers have been liaising with other utilities to ensure the area is safe ahead of repair work commencing.

"Customers in the DD3 Stobsmuir area of Dundee may be experiencing an interruption to normal water supplies as the result of this burst with our team on site handing out bottled water to any affected residents.

"Operatives will be installing an overland pipe this afternoon which will restore and maintain the water supply to all affected customers whilst we continue to work hard to repair the damaged water main.

"We would like to thank customers and local residents for their patience and understanding whilst the repair is carried out."
