Aberdeen woman killed by dog was charged over previous attack

A woman who was killed by her dog at an Aberdeen flat was charged over a previous attack earlier this year.

Michelle McLeod, 41, was pronounced dead at the Foresterhill Road property on Saturday night.

Emergency services attended after receiving reports of a dog attack.

The dog has since been destroyed - it is understood it was an American Bulldog breed.

Attack earlier this year

Back in June, a 41-year-old woman was charged after a dog attacked another dog near to Foresterhill Road.

It is understood the woman charged was Michelle McLeod.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 41-year-old woman was charged following a report of a dog attacking another dog near to Foresterhill Road, Aberdeen, on Friday, 7 June, 2024.

“The injured dog was taken to a vet for treatment to minor injuries.

“A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Family pay tribute

Michelle's family paid tribute to a "much-loved mum, daughter and friend".

The statement released through Police Scotland said: “We are devastated by the loss of Michelle.

“She was a much-loved mother, daughter and friend to many and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

“We would like to ask that our privacy is respected and allow us to grieve at this very difficult time."
