We're being told that Women's Rugby is a growing sport in Wiltshire.

England has been hosting the Women's Rugby World Cup, and the Red Roses face Canada in the final today (27th September) at Twickenham.

Sam Briggs is Team Manager for Dorset and Wiltshire Senior Ladies team and says the competition is boosting the sports exposure.

"The RFU (Rugby Football Union) have really been supportive in trying to get grassroots to work with the World Cup and have put lots of ideas in," she said.

Sam added the increased presence of well-known players on social media is sharing the message that rugby is a sport open to everyone.

She said the sport has been growing over the last few years with more women joining the game, even if they've never played before.

"It allows people who have never played before to step into a team, but also the more experienced people to have teams across the across the county. It's getting bigger and better and the future is bright," Sam told us.

Sam said the sport's "sound set of principles", which are "based on respect" attracts a lot of players to the game.

"It not only builds you as a player, but it builds you as a person," she said.

She told us that the sport is also inclusive too all: "As women and girls we have a lot of pressure to confirm conform to the social media's opinions of bodies of looks, of being pretty, etc.

"Actually, what rugby says is that it doesn't matter who you are, what size you are, where you come from, your sexuality, you are welcome on a pitch and we celebrate different styles, different sizes, power and strength.

"What we need is that women and girls know that they are perfect for the game no matter what."
