A woman in her 40s is in custody after being arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in Swindon.

It's after a crash on Kingsdown Road in the town on Saturday night, when a car hit a tree.

A man in his 40s - who was a passenger in the car - died at the scene.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: "Officers attended a road traffic collision on Kingsdown Road, Swindon at about 9.45pm last night (17/06) in which a car has struck a tree.

"Sadly, a man in his 40s, a passenger in the car, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them.

"The driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving. She is currently in police custody.

"Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or seen a white Audi A3 in the area at the time."
