Wiltshire Police officer dismissed for gross misconduct
PC Lee Prince forcibly pushed a 17 year old against a wall and swore at him
A Wiltshire Police officer's been dismissed from the force, after a disciplinary hearing found his behaviour amounted to gross misconduct.
PC Lee Prince had two allegations against him upheld, referring to an incident in April 2023.
He was found to have been disrespectful and swore at a 17 year old male being detained by other officers.
He also used excessive force to pin him against a wall, before letting go a short time later.
PC Prince will also be placed on the national policing barred list, meaning he can't work in the sector again.
Deputy Chief Constable Mark Cooper said: “The trust and confidence of our communities depends on our officers and staff displaying the highest standards of professionalism at all times. The way PC Prince interacted with a member of our community is completely unacceptable and he has rightly been held to account for his actions.
“We continue to act robustly where behaviour is reported to us that falls short of what our communities expect and deserve. We will not stop until we root out behaviours such as those displayed by PC Prince from our organisation. Only through doing this can we ensure that we maintain the highest standards of professional behaviour and build the trust and confidence of the communities we are here to serve.”
In line with the Police Conduct regulations 2020, the officer has a period of 10 working days to appeal the outcome.
