Police, investigating the death of a one-month-old baby, have charged a man from Wiltshire with murder.

Officers were called to an address on Ashridge Court in Newbury, West Berkshire at about 00:50 GMT on Saturday, 9 May 2020.

The South Central Ambulance Service had got in touch, following reports that a one-month-old baby was in cardiac arrest.

The boy was taken to hospital for treatment, but later died.

On 14 May last year, a man and woman, both from Newbury, were arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with this investigation. They were later released on bail.

The pair were then rearrested on 25 May 2021. James Lawton, aged 27 and from Boreham Field in Warminster, has been charged with one count of murder and GBH with intent - in relation to the incident.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court on 26 May 2021.

A 25-year-old woman from Newbury has since been released on bail.
