Wiltshire firefighters urge us to learn how to use a defibrillator
We're encouraged to feel more confident in using the equipment
Wiltshire firefighters are encouraging us to learn where to find out nearest defibrillator - and feel confident in using it.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue (DWFRS) is hosting public training sessions to teach us what to do in a medical emergency.
The latest of those is at Tisbury Fire Station on The Avenue today (from 10.00am on Saturday 28th September).
Station Manager and DWFRS District Commander Brady Morris, from Tisbury fire station, said:
“With more and more defibrillators now installed in publicly available places, our aim is to give people the confidence to step in if they see someone collapse. These sessions have been extremely well received elsewhere, so we look forward to welcoming lots of people to gain this potentially life-saving awareness."
Today's session will also be a chance for people to look around the fire station and find out about becoming an on-call firefighter in Tisbury.
Station Manager Morris said:
“Tisbury firefighters have a vital role to play in keeping the local community safe, so this session is also a great opportunity for anyone interested in joining our on-call team to have a chat with the crew about what the job involves.”
