Wiltshire driver SEVEN times over cocaine limit
A drug driver has been banned from driving for 13 months and fined after being stopped in Minety.
William Rowley, 20, of The Street, Oaksey, pleaded guilty to two counts of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Monday (20/12).
He was fined £350, ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge and disqualified from holding a driving licence for 13 months.
On Monday 7 June, at around 1pm, officers stopped a red Vauxhall Corsa driven by Rowley on Silver Street, Minety.
A drug swipe for cocaine was carried out which returned positive and Rowley was arrested and taken to Melksham Police Station.
Blood tests showed that Rowley had more than seven times the limit of cocaine (Benzoylecgonine) in his system and Ketamin.
PC Michael Tryhorn, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “We can never stress enough the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs.
“Both to the individual whose reactions and speed of thought are severely inhibited and as a result to other road users.
“We will continue to police robustly those intent on driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and act on intelligence provided to us.
“If you are caught, you are facing a significant driving ban as well as a criminal record that could have some serious implications on your job, family and social life.”
