Wiltshire charity shops can give unloved Christmas gifts a home
Sue Ryder is asking us to donate unwanted or unsuitable gifts

Wondering what to do with unloved Christmas gifts? One solution, other than storing them deep in a cupboard in our homes, could be to donate them.
Charity shops are asking us to re-gift unwanted or unsuitable presents - and one of those asking in Wiltshire is national healthcare charity, Sue Ryder.
They have stores in Salisbury's Priory Square in the Maltings, with other branches in Tidworth and Devizes.
Through our donations, Sue Ryder will be able to support people approaching the end of life or those living with grief.
Nick Lobo is a Retail Sales Manager in the South for the charity, and said to us that people shouldn't feel guilty about donating a Christmas gift.
"We're always grateful for anything people donate to us," he said, adding: "Finding a home for a president that's unwanted, it will go to a good home as soon as possible and help us raise the valuable funds that we need to buy the services that we do."
Through funds raised from their charity shops, Sue Ryder run Hospice and Hospice at home services, but they've also been expanding their support for bereavement, which now includes an online community with peer-to-peer support and video counselling sessions.
Nick told Greatest Hits Radio that there's more interaction with the charity around the festive period.
"I think when people will have family coming to visit, people do a lot of self reflection and especially around Christmas time and people do engage with us more around the bereavement support services that we provide."
Retail Regional Manager for the charity, Glynn Taylor, said donating can help cut down waste.
“One person’s trash is another person’s treasure, so it’s definitely worth donating your well-meant, but as yet un-loved items. Not only are you cutting down on waste, you’ll also be helping support people dealing with grief or facing a terminal illness, all the while decluttering your home as you prepare to kick start 2024.”
People can donate quality clothes, household goods, electricals, books, toys as well as accessories and collectibles at Sue Ryder shops.
