Officers today seized weapons, drugs and money after executing two warrants at addresses in Penhill.

Two simultaneous warrants were executed this morning (24/09) at addresses in Ramsbury Avenue and in Warminster Avenue following intelligence gathered on drug dealing in the area.

During the searches, weapons, money and phones were seized with further enquiries relating to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs continuing.

In relation to this operation, an 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage following an incident in Gorse Hill last night where a CCTV camera was damaged. He remains in custody at Gablecross Police Station.

Officers also carried out three warrants in relation to the ongoing operation last week at addresses in Durrington Walk and Twickenham Close.

A knife was seized as well as cannabis, cash, high value goods and stolen alcohol.

Supt Phil Staynings said:

"The aim of these warrants was to impact and disrupt the supply of drugs in the Penhill area of Swindon.

"The warrants were carried out on the back of extensive intelligence and as a robust approach to this kind of illegal behaviour in Swindon.

"We take both drug dealing and the associated crimes that go with it extremely seriously.

"We are targeting and will continue to target those small number of individuals who are intent on causing harm to our communities.

"We have seen violent attacks in recent weeks and by taking both weapons and drugs off of the streets, we hope to address this.

"I would continue to urge anyone who knows of anyone associated with drugs or has any information to contact us via 101 as this information and intelligence plays a crucial role in us helping the local community.

"You can also report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
