Two Wiltshire Police dogs have hung up their leads this week after years of working for the force.

PD Fozzy and PD Boris are leaving alongside their handler PC Simon Goodwin.

PC Goodwin served as a military police dog handler and a paramedic, before joining Wiltshire Police in 2006.

He then qualified as a dog handler with Dutch Herder Fozzy in 2016.

Boris, a rescue Staffie, joined the pair in 2018 as a specialist search dog and the trio have been inseparable ever since.

In 2017, Fozzy was given a Force Award after he helped save the life of a suicidal woman in Bradford on Avon.

PC Goodwin said:

“My proudest moment is having had the absolute privilege of being a police dog handler and working with the two most amazing partners I could wish for. As every dog handler knows, they have been my life. They’ve looked after me, looked after the communities of Wiltshire and caught many criminals along the way. Notwithstanding the vulnerable lives saved and public disorder dealt with.

“It’s an emotional time for me – I’ve been wearing a uniform of some sort for the past 37 years – from a military dog handler, to a paramedic, and now the police, but it’s now time to hang up the boots.”

Both Fozzy and Boris will continue living at home with PC Goodwin enjoying some well earned rest.
