‘Essential’ two-month road closure near Swindon starting today
Lydiard Green is undergoing gas network upgrades
A busy road near Swindon is closing today due to upgrades to gas network.
Drivers will have to divert around Lydiard Green in Lydiard Millicent for the next two months.
The closure will be limited to the stretch between the Church roundabout and Greenhill Crossroads.
Wales & West Utilities said: “This work is essential to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport greener gas in the future”.
We are sorry for any inconvenience our work may cause. We know working on roads like this is not ideal, but the work really is essential to upgrade the network and to keep the gas flowing safely”.
According to Lydiard Millicent Parish Council, a diversion route has been put in place and residents have been contacted by Wales & West Utilities concerning access to their properties.
The road works are set to be completed on March 28.
