Salisbury-based charity receives support from Taylor Swift
Trussell'a been supported by the superstar following her Eras tour
A Salisbury-based anti-poverty charity has told us how important it is for them to have support from famous names.
Trussell, which runs foodbanks across the country, has announced TV Presenter AJ Odudu as it's new ambassador, as well as receiving a donation from music megastar, Taylor Swift.
The American singer made the donation following her most recent 'Eras' tour, after which she made donations to several hunger charities.
Trussell's Sophie Howes said the support of high-profile people is 'amazing':
"It makes a huge difference," she said, "It's an opportunity to really shine a light on the incredible work our food banks do and what a big difference it means to get involved. So hopefully it inspires other people to find out a bit more about us and see if they can support too."
The charity, which has recently rebranded itself, says it's determined to end the need for food banks, with the support of stars like Taylor Swift a vital aid in doing so.
Sophie also told us that this time of year is critical for charity's such as Trussell, as food banks prepare for an increase in demand over the winter.
She said: "Last year, over the course of the year, more than 3.1 million parcels were distributed.
"This winter is going to be just as hard and they're preparing, making sure they've got enough stock reaching out to their local communities, making sure that people can access their services this winter, so this is a really important time."
