Police have arrested three people for drugs offences following a proactive search of a vehicle in Devizes.

Yesterday afternoon officers received a report from a member of the public of a vehicle driving erratically in Roundway Gardens.

On arrival, three males were found in a parked red Mercedes. A section 23 search was conducted, and a large quantity of cash and a small amount of Class B drugs were found.

Three males, aged 21, 18 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and taken into custody.

Devizes Inspector Simon Garrett said: “This stop was only possible thanks to a member of the public reporting suspicious behaviour by the suspects.

“The public are our eyes and ears on the ground. Reports like this allow us to build a fuller picture of what is going on and take action accordingly.

“If you witness anything which you think could be suspicious, please report it on 101 or via our website.”
