Three people have been arrested for drink and drug driving offences in Swindon.

The arrests were part of Project Zero - a roads policing operation which was in the borough last week.

The operation sees officers targeting drivers committing any of the fatal five offences in a bid to reduce the number of casualties on our roads.

A/Insp Will Ayres from the Roads Policing Unit said: “As well as three arrests, the team identified 68 offences linked to the Fatal Five during the day in Swindon. These range from drivers failing to wear seatbelts, to using mobile phones at the wheel.

“This is unacceptable behaviour when driving – we are committed to identifying those who commit such offences in order to make our roads as safe as possible for all road users.”
