Swindon's sporting community pay tribute to HRH Queen Elizabeth II

It was announced that Her Majesty passed away on Thursday

Sporting figures from Swindon have been paying their respects to HRH Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away yesterday (08/09) at the age of 96.

Among those sharing tributes was League Two side, Swindon Town. The club say they were "deeply saddened" to hear of the passing of Her Majesty, adding she will be "always in our heart".

Swindon Town Women FC also shared a tribute online - offering their thoughts to the Royal Family at this time.

Swindon Supermarine FC tweeted to say they were "deeply saddened" to hear of the passing of HRH Queen Elizabeth II.

Other sporting teams have also paid tribute - including ice-hockey side Swindon Wildcats. They offered their "sincere condolences" to the Royal Family in light of the sad news.
