If you drive on it every day, you might not even consider it - but for 2024, Swindon's Magic Roundabout named the 'Roundabout of the Year' by the UK Roundabout Appreciation Society.

The organisation's been around for a number of years now, with their main topics of discussion being their architecture, design and safety.

They do it with the aim of promoting safe driving, with the society formed after the successful release of a calendar - which indeed Swindon's Magic Roundabout will be a part of for 2025.

Swindon's Magic Roundabout was constructed all the way back in 1972 - and what makes it special, and has attracted worldwide attention, is how it consists of five mini roundabouts, all arranged in a circle.

In 2009, it was voted the fourth-scariest junction in Britain.

Swindon Borough Council said: "We’re spinning around with excitement to know Swindon’s Magic Roundabout has been named ‘Roundabout of the Year’!

"The UK Roundabout Appreciation Society has named the Magic Roundabout its 2024 Roundabout of the Year winner, meaning it will feature in the 'Best of British Roundabouts' calendar 2025 on the December page.

"It may have scared tourists and learner drivers for more than 50 years, but here in Swindon we know this iconic roundabout and much-loved landmark has left a lasting legacy putting the Borough on the global stage.

"A big thank you to the UK Roundabout Appreciation Society for finally awarding the UK’s best roundabout the crown it deserves!"
