The fire started in the site’s waste processing plant at around 10.50am this morning (04 February) and nine fire crews are currently at the scene. No one has been injured as a result of the incident.

The HWRC is currently closed and residents who have booked appointments at the recycling centre have been advised not to attend today.

Local businesses and residents are advised to keep their windows closed at this time and people are advised to avoid the local area if they can.

As of this afternoon, the fire has now been contained.

Swindon Council say they will get in touch with those who had appointments to rebook as the centre remains closed.
