People in Swindon are being urged to keep the people of Ukraine in their minds.

The Borough Council has released a statement, also encouraging people to donate to the British Red Cross appeal, as the conflict continues.

Cllr Tim Swinyard, Cabinet Member for Levelling Up, Communities and Place, said: “Even before the tragic events of last week, this is a conflict that hits people daily on personal, psychological and emotional levels, bringing death, injury and separation from loved ones, as well as the huge mental toll of ongoing violence and insecurity.

"The British Red Cross welcome any donation, large or small, to help people in desperate need.

"It's a rapidly evolving crisis, and your donation could help someone affected get food, medicines and basic medical supplies, shelter and water.”

Greenbridge Roundabout has also been lit in blue and yellow, the colours of the Ukrainian flag.
