Swindon Town owner committed to better fan communication
Clem Morfuni has admitted it's not been good enough
Swindon Town owner Clem Morfuni has admitted the club's communication with fans hasn't been good enough, but has vowed to make improvements.
The Supporters Trust penned an open letter to the chairman at the end of the last season, where the Robins finished 19th in Sky Bet League 2 - the club's lowest finish in recent history, demanding answers and assurances improvements would be made on and off the pitch.
"We need to make sure that we're communicating with the supporter groups and and and telling people what what we actually doing," Mr Morfuni told Greatest Hits Radio.
In response to the open letter, the Australian businessman said he would meet supporters to discuss their concerns.
That happened earlier this week, with what he called a 'frank conversation'.
"We're all going to need to work together for the club to move forward," he said, adding that behind the scenes at the club, staff are working 'really hard' to achieve that.
The open letter called for more experienced players and coaching staff to join the club, with the initial vision having been for the club to develop young players to sell for profit.
Mr Morfuni told GHR that the recent signing of Ollie Clarke shows the club leadership are listening.
"Signing Ollie Clarke shows what our intentions are, of having more senior players and more permanent players," he said, adding that the budget is 'a lot healthier than last season".
The signing of Clarke follows the appointment of a new permanent boss in Mark Kennedy.
Mr Morfuni said 48-year-old 'understood the league'.
"We had nine managers that we interviewed and we believe that Mark Kennedy was the right appointment
"He understands League One and League 2, he understood players and what we needed to do to try to get promoted.
"Obviously we want to push for promotion."
