Swindon Town's Ian Holloway up for League Two Manager of the Month
Swindon saw 10 goals scored by 8 different players in January.
Swindon Town gaffer Ian Holloway has been nominated for Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month for his January performances with the Robins.
Following one win in their opening three games this month, Swindon have gone on to win three in a row, seeing goals scored by eight different players.
They now sit in 14th place in the League Two table.
Swindon's results in January:
- 1st January - Swindon 3-2 Colchester (W)
- 4th January - Notts County 2-0 Swindon (L)
- 11th January - Swindon 0-0 Crewe (D)
- 18th January - Swindon 2-0 Barrow (W)
- 24th January - Newport 1-2 Swindon (W)
- 28th January - Swindon 3-1 Tranmere (W)
'Wave of positivity'
On their website, the club wrote: "Holloway has brought a wave of positivity to the County Ground."
"His side picked up four wins, claiming 13 points in their best spell since his arrival also extending their home form to six unbeaten as well with victories against Colchester, Barrow, and Tranmere at home while picking up a point against Crewe Alexandra."
He's up against the following candidates:
Graham Alexander (Bradford City)
Losing leading scorer Andy Cook could have derailed Bradford’s season, but Alexander switched to a 3-4-3 system to accommodate key players returning.
Thirteen points from five unbeaten games- including a decisive 3-0 win over leaders Walsall- means he was always likely to make the shortlist.
Johnnie Jackson (AFC Wimbledon)
Jackson appears to have fixed the consistency issues which undermined the Dons last season. His team is tighter at the back, conceding just two goals in four unbeaten games as they picked up eight points to maintain their promotion push.
Grant McCann (Doncaster Rovers)
The tag of pre-season promotion favourites has weighed heavily on McCann’s players at times, yet his clear messaging about staying patient and calm saw them win four of their five January games and move into second place in the table.
The judging panel for the award consists of: former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
The winner will be announced on Friday (7th February).
