Swindon ranks in UK’s top 15 places to sell property
Only two places in the South West made it into the top ten

Swindon has been named one of the best places in the UK to sell property.
New figures from online platforms Quick Move Now and Home.co.uk have found that properties in the town usually only spend an average of 56 days on the market.
Across the South West, only Bristol and Gloucester ranked higher than Swindon, with 51 and 52 days respectively.
Beth Lane, communications officer at Quick Move Now, told Greatest Hits Radio: “Properties in Swindon typically stay on the market for just 56 days. When you compare that to typical market time figures for the whole of England and Wales of 104 days, it’s clear that the market in Swindon is strong and that it’s a great place to sell property”.
Across the UK, Swindon ranked in the top 15 places to sell property, coming in at 14th place.
Its South West rivals Bristol and Gloucester both made it into the top six and nearby town Reading placed ninth.
"Price is everything"
However, property in Swindon is a lot cheaper than in those places, with Swindon’s median asking price at £280,000 while people in Reading pay around £375,000 for a property.
“Swindon has a lot to offer”, explained Ms. Lane.
“It’s a more affordable option than many of the surrounding areas like Bath, Bristol, Oxford and Reading, but it’s still within easy reach of those areas.
“It’s only an hour away from London and it’s close proximity to the M4 makes it a great option for commuters”.
The most important thing, according to Ms. Lane, is the right pricing.
“In the current economic climate, price is everything. So, properties are selling quickly in Swindon but only if they’re priced realistically.
“With a typical market time of 56 days, if your property doesn’t sell within the first two months, it’s likely that it’s overpriced.
“Your property is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for it, so if it’s not selling, it’s probably time to consider a significant price reduction”, she added.
The number one place in the UK to sell property is Glasgow with a market time of only 30 days and an asking price just over £200,000.
On the other end of the table, the Mayfair area of London came in in last place, with a market time of 225 days and a median asking price of over £2m.
