Swindon Robins fans are set to gather at the club's Abbey Stadium tonight, as they demand answers about ongoing building work at the racetrack.

Many supporters feel the renovations have taken taken too long, and want to voice their frustrations over the perceived lack of communication from people who oversee the site.

A group of speedway fans will meet outside the Abbey at 6pm, in an attempt to show Swindon Greyhound Stadium management, Gaming International, and Swindon Borough Council the desire to see speedway return. Supporters will also ask for greater clarity on the future of the Blunsdon building.

The Robins haven't competed since 2019, because of the planned development work, as well as the Coronavirus pandemic.

Despite the deadline to let British Speedway know of the club’s intentions for next season fast approaching, it's currently unclear whether Swindon will be able to race at the stadium.

Bosses are hoping that renovation work at the Abbey, which the Robins have called home for 73 years, will be completed by this winter.

In a Facebook post, Swindon fan Marie Osborne Matthews said: "If you want your stadium and speedway, be there, in your scarfs and caps.

"YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU," she added.
