Swindon's Local Policing Tasking Team have helped disrupt 14 drug lines and seen thousands of pounds of drugs seized.

The LPTT team was set up in July 2024 to reduce violence and serious harm.

Thousands of pounds of drugs have been seized, including 532 deals of heroin, 623 deals of crack cocaine, more than 1,750g of cocaine and more than 2kg of cannabis, along with ÂŁ33,000 in cash, watches, clothing and three vehicles suspected to be criminal property.

Two drug dealers have been sentenced for a total of 6 years and 8 months, with another being sentenced this Friday.

As part of the recent County Lines Intensification Week, working closely with local neighbourhood policing teams and the Youth Violence Reduction Unit/Integrated Gangs Team, the team conducted a series of warrants across Swindon and the wider county.

DS Robb Prout, supervisor for the Swindon team, said: "The LPTT was restructured in July last year to provide support to our Local Policing colleagues in tackling the highest threat and risk offenders on the areas.

“The trafficking and misuse of controlled drugs causes irreparable harm to our communities and often involves the exploitation of some of the most vulnerable members of our society."
