Swindon Police 'understand the concern' following recent incidents
They say officers will be out and about over the coming weeks to help reassure the community
Swindon Police say that 'understand the level of concern in the community' after a number of recent incidents in the area.
The force say officers will be out and about over the coming weeks to show people they can be called upon when you need them.
It's after a stop and search order ended last night after three people were sent to hospital with serious injuries in separate incidents on Sunday.
Yesterday, Officers and Special Constables from the Stratton, Central Swindon North and West Swindon Neighbourhood Policing Team were out on the streets of Moredon - taking the chance to meet people enjoying the sunshine at the Recreation Ground.
One of the team, T/Insp Lawrence Copeland said: “We understand the level of concern in the community following recent incidents in the area, so we felt it was important to make ourselves available - to provide reassurance and to take the time to listen to local residents.
“Expect to see us out and about in the local area over coming weeks, we are really keen to get to know everyone and demonstrate that we are here to be called on whenever you need us and to allow the public to put a name to a face.
“Feel free to come over and chat to us as we patrol the area, we are here to ensure that you feel safe in your neighbourhood - if you have concerns please let us know. We’re here to help.”
Anyone with concerns about their local area is being urged to contact officers.
