A man from Swindon has been handed a community order and told to go to rehab after pleading guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and being threatening in Chippenham.

53 year old Lee Meadows from Hill Rise appeared before magistrates earlier this month.

Another man has been released under investigation.

In a statement yesterday, Wiltshire Police said: "A Swindon man has been sentenced for his part in a disorder in the Hill Rise area of Chippenham.

"Lee Meadows, 53, of Hill Rise pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and using threatening words/behaviour to cause alarm when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on October 18.

"Meadows was sentenced to community order and ordered to carry out rehabilitation activity including alcohol treatment.

"Another man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of affray in connection with the disorder, and has been released under investigation."
