A man has been jailed for 16 months after police discovered a cannabis factory at two flats in Old Town.

The discovery was made by officers at a property in Winifred Street in March 2020.

This week Franco Kapja, 25, of Winifred Street, was jailed for 16 months after pleading guilty to production of cannabis.

PC Gee, from the local neighbourhood team, said: "This sentence shows that the production of illicit drugs is a crime that will be taken seriously.

"The possession of cannabis is illegal and we know that the production of cannabis and the subsequent dealing networks are directly related to gang activity, exploitation and serious violence."
