Orion Mundy, of Manor Crescent, was jailed for 2 years and four months in a youth detention centre, after pleading guilty to the burglary plus a further nine months for separate drug offences taking his sentence to a total of three years and one month in prison.

On February 10, the occupant of an address in the Lawn area of Swindon was on holiday when she was alerted to suspicious activity at her address via her doorbell camera, which showed her Audi being driven away by a man who was not known to her.

Police were called and enquiries at the property found the address had been broken into via a back door and car keys stolen, before the vehicle was taken from the driveway. Sentimental jewellery was also stolen during the burglary.

A short time later officers located the stolen Audi and later arrested Mundy at his home address. A number of items of interest were also seized including the stolen keys, a crow bar and class A drugs. Mundy was later charged and appeared for sentencing on May 5.

Det Con Jared Yalden said: “This is a positive result, not only for the victim, but also for the public – it shows that Wiltshire Police will do everything possible to bring those responsible for burglaries to justice by ensuring they are put before the courts.

“We will always take reports of burglary extremely seriously . The impact that a burglary can have on a victim should never be underestimated. A home should be a safe place and I know this incident continues to really impact on the victim and her family. The homeowner tells me the feelings of violation are overwhelming. I hope this court result goes some way in helping the victim feel safe once again in her own home.”
