Swindon landmarks illuminated in memory of Queen Elizabeth II

The Borough Council says they'll remain lit up through the period of national mourning.

Tributes from around Wiltshire are continuing to pour in, in memory of Queen Elizabeth II - who passed away at the age of 96 on 8th September 2022.

Swindon Borough Council say that Greenbridge Roundabout and Central Library will be lit up purple, throughout the period of national mourning, in honour of Her Majesty.

As well as the illuminated landmarks, people are being invited to pay their respects in books of condolences, which are located around Swindon.

Books of condolence are available at the following locations:

Civic Offices, Euclid Street (open Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 5.00pm)

Central Library

Highworth Library

North Swindon Library

Park Library

West Swindon Library

In addition a condolence book is available for residents at Fessey House care home, which is run by Swindon Borough Council.

There will be a service of thanksgiving for the life of Queen Elizabeth II on Friday, 16 September at 7.00pm at Christ Church on Cricklade St in Swindon.
