Police are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at the Swindon Hindu Temple over the weekend.

Enquiries are ongoing following the break-in at the temple, on Darby Close, which took place between Tuesday 31st August and Saturday 4th September.

After gaining access to the building, the offender(s) have stolen a number of collection boxes and important artefacts.

Superintendent Phil Staynings said: “Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the impact this burglary has had on our Hindu community within Swindon and I completely appreciate the frustration they must feel at being targeted by criminals again.

“We have been in regular contact with the members of the temple since the weekend and myself and our Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson visited leaders at the temple today to listen to these concerns and update on our investigation.

“We are now progressing the forensic evidence we gathered at the scene and our neighbourhood teams continue to liaise with businesses and other premises nearby.

“I would, however, urge anyone with information to come forward now and help us locate those responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and quote crime reference number 54210086131.
