Teenage girl arrested after Swindon woman dies
Police were called to a house on Baydon Close in the Moredon area of the town at around 7pm last night
A woman in her 50s has died following a disturbance at a house in Swindon, and a teenage girl has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police were called to a house on Baydon Close in the Moredon area of the town at around 7pm last night (21 November) after receiving reports of a disorder.
When officers arrived, they found a woman, who lived at the address, not breathing. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, she was declared dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
A cordon has been set up around the property while detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
This is expected to remain in place throughout today (22 November).
A teenage girl has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Darren Ambrose from the Major Crime Investigation Team said: “This is a serious incident in which a woman has sadly died.
“We have set up a cordon at the address while an investigation is carried out. This is likely to remain in place overnight and throughout tomorrow.
“I can confirm that we have arrested a teenage girl in connection with this incident and we are not looking for anyone else.
“We would encourage people not to speculate on the circumstances around this incident.
“We appreciate the concern that this may cause the local community. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to an officer.”
