Public re-names Swindon's bin lorries as big changes loom
What's BIN a name?
Some of Swindon's bin lorries are being re-named in honour of local celebrities.
Charlie Aust-bin, Binnie Piper and Melinda Messcollector are among the best of them.
It is all part of efforts to raise awareness about major changes to waste and recycling collections due at the end of the month.
Swindon Borough Council has described it as the biggest changes to the borough's waste and recycling collections for 15 years.
The council asked residents to name the new collection lorries in order to generate heightened interest and awareness of the major upcoming changes.
The changes come into effect from Monday November 27th.
Councillor Chris Watts, Cabinet Member for The Environment and Transport, said: “It was great to see so many people getting involved with the naming of our new vehicles.
“A big thank you to everyone who submitted a name and I hope people aren’t too disappointed if their name wasn’t chosen.”
