A well-loved animal rescue centre in Swindon has permanently closed.

For the past 10 years, SN Dogs has helped hundreds of dogs in need to find a loving home.

Bosses had made several appeals over recent months, asking for any potential volunteers or foster carers to get in touch. Four weeks ago they said the charity was at "crisis point" and "really struggling to keep going".

'Thank you everyone who ever helped in any way'

It seems SN Dogs has paid the ultimate price for rising living costs, which have swept the nation this year. They mean fewer people now have the financial capacity to adopt pets, or offer charities their free time as volunteers.

On announcing that its doors have been shut for good, the charity released a statement.

"We don’t want to dwell on any sadness, but instead be proud that in the last 10 years we have achieved so, so much.

"This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our wonderful team of unpaid volunteers.

"Thank you everyone who ever helped in any way, no matter how small or how big," it said.
