Stonehenge has been ranked as the third 'most magical' destination in the world, according to a new survey.

Released just a week before this year's Summer Solstice, the survey's looked at social media posts and reviews to create the rundown of the top 'enchanted' locations.

The South Wiltshire stone circle was searched for on Google 12 million times last year, with 925,000 Instagram posts and 23,400 TikTok mentions.

3.6% of Stonehenge Trip Advisor reviews used the word 'magical', giving the monument an overall score of 8.54 out of 10 in the rankings.

Only Machu Picchu in Peru and Petra in Jordan rated higher.

The study's been carried out by online bingo company Slingo.

In their citation, they've said this about Stonehenge:

"This enigmatic stone circle, believed to have been constructed between 3000 BC and 2000 BC, continues to intrigue scholars and tourists alike, and the purpose and method of its construction remain subjects of speculation.

"Stonehenge's enduring appeal is evident in the millions of Google searches it generates annually and its significant presence on Instagram, appearing in almost a million posts. With 3.6% of reviews on TripAdvisor describing it as “magical,” Stonehenge captures the imagination as a site of ancient mystery and significance."
