'Serious assault' outside pub in Swindon

Police have launched an appeal for information following the incident earlier this week

Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after what they're describing as a serious assault outside a pub in Swindon.

They say it happened in the early hours of Monday morning (July 15) outside the Liden Arms - with a man needing hospital treatment after suffering a serious head injury.

One man's in custody, with another released on bail.

In a statement, officers said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault outside the Liden Arms, Swindon in the early hours of Monday morning.

"Just after midnight a man was hit over the head with an object and suffered a serious head injury requiring hospital treatment.

"Two men have been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent. One has been released on bail, the other remains in custody.
