Second person arrested in Swindon murder probe after stabbing

Police say a man in his forties died in hospital after being stabbed on Broad Street on Tuesday night.

Wiltshire Police has arrested a second person on suspicion of murder following an incident in Broad Street, Swindon, on Tuesday evening.

The woman in her 30s is now in police custody.

The arrests are in connection with a stabbing which occurred in Broad Street at around 9pm on Tuesday.

The victim, a man in his 40s, suffered a serious knife injury and was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.

Sadly, he died later in the night and his next of kin have been informed.

Cordons have been put in place in Broad Street, Swindon, and Galsworthy Close in Liden while officers carry out enquiries.

These are likely to remain in place for several hours.

Senior investigating officer DCI Phil Walker of the Major Crime Investigation Team said:

“Our investigation is continuing at pace, and we have made a second arrest in connection with the incident.

“A woman was arrested at around noon today on suspicion of murder and has been taken into custody for questioning.

“We are no longer looking for anybody else in connection with this incident, however we are continuing to conduct extensive enquiries and residents will continue to see an increased police presence across the town.

“I’d like to reiterate our appeal for any witnesses to the incident or anybody who might have information to please contact us on 101, quoting log 362 of yesterday’s date.
