Salisbury FC have secured promotion into the National League South following a tense game against Totton at the Snow Stadium.

After a late equaliser from Totton, the score was 2-2 at full time, taking the teams to penalties.

Goal keeper Ryan Gosney saved two spot kicks, whilst Salisbury didn't miss a penalty.

The victory saw celebrations on the pitch with players and fans chanting: "We are going up! We are going up!"

Fans have taken to social media to share in the excitement.

One person posted: "Thoroughly well deserved. Proud to be a Salisbury resident and fan."

Another said: "Thanks for a great day. Canā€™t wait for next season."

Supporters group praise manager for unifying club

Dave Drag, who runs the Facebook group 'Salisbury FC Supporters', told Greatest Hits Radio that the feeling around the club is superb.

Dave was at the game and described his feelings at full time as 'delight' and 'a little bit of disbelief' after the penalty shootout victory.

He's lavished praise on boss Brian Dutton for bringing the club together again.

"Many people that have followed the club will know the dramas that have gone on over the past number of years," he said, adding: "Since Brian returned, the feeling of unity has started to come back."

Dave said the connection between the club and the fans has strengthened during this season, saying: "It feels that everybody is pulling in the same direction."

He said the team spirit had shone through when it was needed most: "The never say die attitude from the players that Brian has got there is just incredible.

"It was a tense afternoon, most of those there will say they've been through the ringer and feel it emotionally after that, but what a way to end the season!"
