Salisbury Cathedral serves up International Pancake Race joy
The traditional Shrove Tuesday event moved to the Cloisters, due to poor weather
Salisbury's traditional International Pancake Race was held this morning (Tuesday 13th February) in the Cathedral Cloisters.
The annual event, organised by Salisbury Foodbank, helps to raise awareness of food insecurity and poverty.
Rain meant the event was taken indoors from the City's high street, but that didn't stop dozens of people turning up to watch and join in.
There were several races as people young and old ran from the West End to the East End of the cloisters, flipping their pancake twice along the way.
A series of first round races saw a wide variety of people taking part, including a policeman!
Eventually Ryan Galpin was crowned champion of the adults races. He said it was an unexpected victory and told us the how to achieve a perfect toss.
"I think you've got to have the right angle and purchase on the pancake, so its a nice easy flick of the wrist and you can get it over in one."
Following the races, we asked people what they'd be putting on their pancakes this evening.
Many are sticking with the classic lemon and sugar combination, while there were a couple of people who're opting for jam.
However, we were surprised to hear that some people would be putting cheese on their pancakes!
But whatever goes on tonight's pancakes, everyone who took part or watched the Salisbury Pancake Race had a flipping great time!
